“Lay Me Down”

Over the past summer, Miranda got the amazing chance to be in the studio with some of her closest friends and create her first ever EP. She got some of the best singers and artists to work on this project and they all were/are students of ETSU just like her. She helped produce and articulate this project right beside Jacob Metz who is an amazing engineer.  He is an artist himself with the award-winning bluegrass duo Darin and Brooke Aldridge. Another great person working on this project was Troy Boone. He was a student at ETSU and now teaches there while traveling with the Amanda Cook Band. He mixed and mastered the project. Miranda did two covers and two originals on this project. She chose two of her favorite covers that showcases her unique vocal talents and gospel and bluegrass abilities. Her originals are very close to her because one was written with her great-uncle Jack and the other is a song, she wrote by herself. Her favorite song on the project is called, “Lay Me Down” which is a very emotional song to her and which is now the name of the EP. She is beyond proud and grateful for this project and hopes that listeners will feel the emotion and power behind each and every song.

To get a hard copy CD of Miranda's new EP, contact her by phone or email! It is also on most social platforms.

About

Miranda was born in Nashville, TN in December of 2001 but lived in Kingsport since age five. She started playing piano at seven years old and has played and sang in her family church since. Her whole family on her dad’s side plays and sings in church and has been good mentors for her throughout her life. She grew up listening to old gospel and country music with her grandparents on both sides and always loved those genres. At sixteen she got her first guitar from her dad which was a Washburn and instantly fell in love with it. Since then, she has taken lessons from G.C. Matlock who has not only become a great teacher through the years but also a fantastic mentor and guide. He taught her so much about not only playing gospel and country music but also bluegrass rhythm and picking. Growing up in Kingsport she heard a lot about East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, and grew up going to basketball camps and events there as well. So, when she found out they had a specific major for the music she had always loved, she knew then she had to go there for college. She is currently majoring in Bluegrass, Old-Time and Roots music studies at East Tennessee State University with a concentration in bluegrass performance.  Vocals are Miranda’s main instrument and guitar being her secondary. Since starting there back in 2020, she has had the opportunity to be in multiple bands each semester and has met so many amazing students and teachers. In August 2022 she won first place in the Appalachian Fair’s Got Talent show in Gray, Tennessee; her first contest. She hopes to get into more contests to help her confidence and courage as much as possible. She also plans to start touring in the near future and performing all around to share her passion of music with others.
